How to take the perfect player photo

You don't need a professional camera – a phone is perfect. Follow these tips and your shield will look like it came straight out of a pro football card pack.

Light

  • Shoot outside or beside a big window
  • Avoid strong sun directly behind the player
  • Overcast days give soft, even light

Pose

  • Waist up or full body, facing the camera
  • Arms folded, ball under arm or hurley on shoulder
  • A big smile – or their best game face

Background

Don't worry about the background – we remove it automatically. Just make sure the player stands out clearly and nothing overlaps them.

Avoid

  • Blurry or zoomed-in photos
  • Hats or helmets covering the face (unless that's the look!)
  • Other people's arms or heads in the frame
